Belarusian-Swedish artist Ludmila Christeseva leads collaborative textile workshops with Ukrainian refugee women. What began as creative relief has grown into a “Solidarity Sisterhood,” where weaving transforms trauma into strength, community, and a shared vision of peace.

In a seriocomic twist on the classic Alien Invasion theme, the denizens of Planet Znarg unite to fend off a colonizing team of bumbling astronauts sent by the EarthX Corporation. This 12.5 minute animated film is presented in the style of a silent film that uses inter-titles written in the fictitious language of Planet Znarg, and is accompanied by a musical score by Bruce Lazarus.
Director Biography –
Bruce Lazarus (left) is the co-director, co-writer and scorer of “They Came In Peace”. He is a New York City composer who is often inspired by the ideas and imagery of astronomy and science fiction in such works as his solo piano cycle “Messier Star Clusters and Nebulae”, “Starry Messenger” for brass quintet, and “StarSongs” for chorus and instrumental ensemble. Lazarus earned his B.M. and M.M. degrees in music composition at Julliard and Ph.D. in music theory at Rutgers University.
Robert Martens (right) is the co-director, co-writer, designer and animator of “They Came In Peace.” He is a retired art teacher from the New York City public school system. As a visual artist he has worked in painting, sculpture, environmental installation, stained glass and hot glass. He is self-taught in the techniques of animation and is largely self-taught in the application of Photoshop which he uses to create the imagery used in his animation projects.
